Intra-Oral Camera

While X-rays provide valuable information that we cannot get from any other source, they cannot show you everything that is going on in your mouth. That is why we have invested in an Intra-Oral camera – a highly advanced piece of diagnostic equipment that allows you to see what is in your mouth.

The Intra-Oral hand piece is approximately the size and shape of a dental mirror. It has a built-in light source and serves as a tiny video camera that allows us to zoom in on one tooth, or give you a video tour of your entire mouth. The images are displayed on a computer monitor, so you will be able to see problems such as worn or broken fillings, cracked teeth, plaque deposits, cavities next to fillings, and excessive wear. We can also print an image for you to take home.

Intra-Oral image technology helps both the patient and the doctors track treatment with before, during, and after images. This makes it easy to see exactly what has been done and how it looks. Patients are given a tour of their mouth by taking digital pictures and x-rays of their teeth. Then the images are displayed on a computer screen for both the doctor and patient to view. It gives the patient an opportunity to view the diagnosis and gain a better understating of what is going on in their mouth.
